Albuquerque night out

It’s been awhile since I dabbled in astronomy, but I think of it from time to time, especially when the sky is darkest and the stars are numerous.  Then, I long for a telescope and more training to study the sky.  Last night, on a gelato run, we ran into a guy with a telescope (I think it was a 10" lens, but didn’t look closely at the model for more information).  He had set up on the corner and was pointing his lens at Jupiter and letting anyone on the street come by and hae a peek. It was very neat and a long time since I’d looked in a lens. You could see Jupiter very clearly and all of its moons. The guy didn’t charge anything for the viewing and I was thinking how thoughtful he was to share his viewing knowledge with the general public.
