There are just some places not to miss when visiting Vancouver.
One place I tend to sample for a bit of French nostalgia is the Boulangerie on Mainland Street in Yaletown. Yummy pastries and coffee. A quaint little shop with outdoor seating possibilities. My favorite pastry is the Paine au Chocolate.
Keeping with the Yaletown district, there’s a neat little Wine shop on that same street called Taylorwood Wines. They specialize in Canadian wines of all varieties. Stop in for a sampling during their daily wine tasting. Check out their web site for details: http://www.taylorwoodwines.com/.
Another little shop on that same street worth a mention is a new chocolate shop that held it’s grand opening last week: Chocoatl http://www.chocoatl.com/.
Finally, after some raving reviews about a place called Vij’s, I had to check it out. Nearly a 2 hour wait to get a table on a Saturday night during prime-time, but the food and the atmosphere was worth it. I’m not certain about the pricing…seemed pretty steep to me, but I had a great time and enjoyed the evening. Here’s a link to that site, too. http://www.vijs.ca/index_in.htm
ps. If you have the time, I recommend a Harbor tour by Seaplane. Some pictures from my tour are posted in my photos share.
