I work in a fairly sized development team of about 75 people. In all my time in this Company I have never seen an epidemic of this magnitude and for the size of the team, it’s phenomenal. Ignoring all of the babies from the last year (2004) and just counting the number of new births this spring (to date) I am at a count of 5 new babies. There is another round of babies coming for the August timeframe–about 5 more. And, if I branch out a tad to fellow colleagues in other groups, I can immediately add 2 more new comers to the list (as of this week). Not only are we probably having the largest ratio of births to employees in any team this year, with all of the maternity/paternity leave going on, we must have one of the most talented teams, too. Somehow we are still managing to deliver our projects, on time and with increased quality–or so our statistics say.
